A Student, a Stake, and a Future at Risk: Niharika Konidela Announces ‘Pocket Rockkets’

Pink Elephant Pictures, founded by Niharika Konidela, has announced Pocket Rockkets, an upcoming Telugu urban drama produced in association with Maximum City Studios. Written and directed by Rudra Atri, the film centres on a young student whose pursuit of an overseas education draws him into a high-risk world of gambling, setting up a conflict between personal ambition and the consequences of his decisions.

Coming from an underprivileged background, the protagonist is academically gifted but lacks the financial means to fund his plans for studying abroad. He turns to gambling as a way to bridge that gap, only to find himself entangled with a manipulative gambling shark. The resulting predicament places his aspirations under pressure and forces him to confront the values he stands to compromise in his attempt to move ahead.

The film stars Trinadh Varma of Committee Kurrollu fame and Nirmal in the lead roles. Shriya Kontham, known for Shubham, plays the female lead, while JD Chakravarthy appears in a pivotal role.

The production brings together a cast led by performers from different points in their careers, with the story anchored in the financial and ethical pressures facing its central character. Rather than treating the pursuit of success as a straightforward journey, the premise places the cost of that pursuit at the heart of the drama.

The technical team comprises cinematographer Edurolu Raju, music composer Gyaani, editor Anwar Ali, production designer Vishnu Vardhan Pulla and action choreographer Rajesh Lanka. Rudra Atri leads the project as both writer and director.

With filming wrapped, Pocket Rockets is currently in post-production. The makers are yet to announce the release date and further details about the film.
