After delivering the critically acclaimed blockbuster COURT – State Vs A Nobody, Natural Star Nani’s banner Unanimous Productions has officially announced its second production venture. Titled Alias Rukmini, the film stars Nithiin in the lead and promises to be an intriguing blend of romance, mystery, and emotion.
The project is directed by Murali Kanth Devasoth, who won praise for his debut film Dhandora, and is produced by Deepthi Ganta. The makers unveiled the film through a unique announcement video that immediately grabbed attention with its unconventional storytelling.
The video begins with a conversation between Nani and director Murali Kanth, where Nani asks him to narrate the story of Krishna. Instead, viewers are introduced to a series of romantic novels authored by a mysterious writer named Rukmini. As Nani questions who Rukmini really is, the video concludes with the reveal of Nithiin as Krishna, a mathematics teacher, who simply smiles and says, “My wife,” leaving audiences curious about the mystery behind the title.
Without revealing much about the plot, the announcement video creates intrigue through its atmospheric visuals, engaging background score, and refreshing narrative style. The film appears to be a heartfelt love story wrapped in an emotional mystery, raising expectations among movie lovers.
Nani’s reputation for backing strong content further adds credibility to the project. Following the success of COURT, Alias Rukmini marks another content-driven venture from Unanimous Productions, while director Murali Kanth returns with what is being described as another original and compelling script.
The film was formally launched with a traditional pooja ceremony. Nani gave the inaugural clap for the muhurtham shot, while Nithiin’s father Sudhakar Reddy switched on the camera. Nani’s father Ganta Rambabu and producer Venkat Boyanapally handed over the script to the team, and COURT director Ram Jagadeesh along with Sailesh Kolanu directed the first shot.
Speaking at the launch, Nani said he was delighted to begin the journey of Alias Rukmini, describing it as a beautiful love story with a unique backdrop. He also recalled Nithiin’s support during the early days of his career and expressed confidence that the film would once again make audiences fall in love with the actor.
Nithiin thanked Nani for bringing such a unique script to him and introducing him to director Murali Kanth. Calling it a special project in his career, he expressed confidence that the entire team would be proud of the final outcome.
Director Murali Kanth Devasoth said Nani instantly believed in the script after hearing it and that having Nithiin headline the project was a dream come true. He promised to deliver a memorable film that would entertain audiences and live up to expectations.
Producer Deepthi Ganta revealed that Alias Rukmini was the first script after COURT that gave her complete confidence. She added that Nani suggested approaching Nithiin for the lead role, and after seeing him in the character’s look, the team was convinced he was the perfect choice to play Krishna.
Music composer Vijai Bulganin, who reunites with Nani’s production banner for the third time, expressed his excitement about collaborating with Nithiin and promised to deliver a soundtrack that enhances the film’s emotional journey.
The technical crew features renowned cinematographer Jomon T. John ISC, production designer Avinash Kolla, editor Srujana Adusumilli, and music by Vijai Bulganin.
Currently in the pre-production stage, Alias Rukmini is expected to begin regular shooting soon, with the makers gearing up to bring the intriguing romantic mystery to theatres in the coming months.
