Yash’s much-awaited Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is generating strong buzz across India ahead of its theatrical release on August 26, with the film’s advance bookings pointing towards a potentially massive opening.
While Yash established himself as a pan-India star with the KGF franchise, the latest booking trends suggest that his popularity in the Hindi market extends well beyond the success of those films. According to trade reports, the Hindi version of Toxic has sold more than 50,000 tickets across national chains for its opening day within just 24 hours of ticket sales opening.
The early momentum is being described as exceptional, with the advance sales reportedly surpassing the initial booking trends of several major Hindi releases. Based on the current pace, trade estimates suggest that Toxic could register an opening in the range of ₹35 crore to ₹40 crore nett in Hindi.
The film is also benefiting from a partial holiday on August 26, which could further boost footfalls and help the film achieve a bigger opening.
The advance booking response is equally encouraging in Karnataka, where the film has reportedly crossed ₹6.75 crore gross in pre-sales. In the Hindi market, advance bookings have also reached around ₹3.25 crore nationwide within hours of opening, highlighting the growing anticipation for the film.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic presents Yash in a dark and stylised gangster world, marking a distinct departure from his earlier outings. The film features a prominent ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.
Shot in Kannada and English, the film is being released in multiple Indian languages. Produced by Venkat K. Narayana, Toxic is positioned as a large-scale and bold action spectacle.
With bookings yet to open in Hyderabad and some other key markets, the film has considerable room to build further momentum. If the current trend continues, Toxic could emerge as one of the biggest opening-day performers among Indian releases this year.
Yash’s North Indian market, which was significantly expanded by KGF, now appears to be standing firmly on its own. The advance booking numbers suggest that Toxic is not merely benefiting from the KGF brand, but from Yash’s established pan-India stardom.
